Patric Myers - Killer Queen Tribute
Patric Myers Killer Queen has become one of the best tribute bands in the world. They are in constant demand both here in Europe and the United States.
The band formed almost thirty years ago whilst Patric was at university in London. The idea was to get together and play some of their favourite Queen songs for fun leading to gigs in London where the response was more than they could have imagined. The promoter who booked them that night went on to book them for a Uk tour, leading to gigs in the UK and Europe. Killer Queens' success in Europe led to sell-out tours of America, playing venues such as Austin City Limits and Redrocks in Colorado, a venue the Beatles had played when they toured America in the sixties.
The love of Queen's music over the years has grown, and the success of the musical We will Rock You and the film Bohemian Rhapsody has given a new generation a chance to enjoy the music of Queen.
"The music means a lot to us, and we've realised how much it means to everyone else. Queen songs are so wonderfully written they become part of many of our lives", says Patric.
With a career lasting almost thirty years, the band are as busy as ever and will be touring the UK, Europe and the United States again in 2023. I was fortunate to have been able to photograph a couple of the band's UK gigs over the last few years, and I did feel the spirit of Freddie on that stage.
